Bio I have spent most of my career at the literal as well as thematic crossroads of science and medicine – pursuing translational research in both fundamental and clinical aspects of thrombosis and antithrombotic therapy.
Prior to joining Stanford and Spectrum in 2012, I was an American Stroke Association - Stroke Prevention Research Fellow at Duke University. At Duke, I was an integral part of a team of clinicians, basic scientists and clinical researchers within the Duke Clinical Research Institute. With mentorship from Drs. Robert Harrington (Director, Duke Clinical Research Institute), Richard Becker (Professor of Medicine, Cardiology), Larry Goldstein (Professor of Medicine, Neurology) and Bruce Sullenger (Professor and Director, Duke Translational Research Institute), I conducted early translational as well as clinical studies of RNA aptamer-based reversible anticoagulant therapy for potential application in acute ischemic stroke. I also sought continued didactic training in the quantitative, methodological and management principles of clinical research through a formal curriculum at the Duke Clinical Research Training Program. My research record is therefore, highly interdisciplinary and translational, comprising components of materials chemistry, surface and bio-analysis, molecular and cell biology, medicine and surgery, drug chemistry and pharmaceutics [please see biosketch for details of 18 peer-reviewed publications (14 first-authored) and several presentations from my work, incl. at Gordon Research Conferences].

I tell stories about the amazing biomedical research going on at Stanford with words, images and video. I especially enjoy explaining complex concepts in novel and easy-to-understand ways.
My stories enter the world through many media channels: our newspaper, websites, magazine, blog, and Twitter feeds. I also build new websites and am continually deploying new media tools as better ones come along.
The best part of my job is that I get to hang out brilliant people and learn new things every day.
