    Clinical Assistant Professor, Surgery - Vascular Surgery

    Bio Dr. Chandra earned her B.S. degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Genetics and Cell Biology from the University of Minnesota in 1999. In 2004, she received her medical degree from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Chandra completed her General Surgery residency at Stanford in 2011 and is a graduate of the Stanford Biodesign program. She continued on to complete the Stanford Vascular Surgery Fellowship.

    Dr. Chandra is a member of SSATHI (Stanford South Asian Translational Heart Institute), as well as WHH (Stanford Women's Hearth Health). She is the co-director of the Stanford Advanced Wound Care Center (AWCC). As the co-director of the Stanford AWCC she is heavily involved in the Stanford Limb Salvage Initiative and has substantial expertise in new and cutting edge peripheral vascular and limb salvage techniques. She is also the associate program director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship and the Vascular Surgery Medical Student Clerkship Director.

    Dr. Chandra's research and clinical interests include women’s vascular health, limb salvage, technology development and treatment optimization for complex open and endovascular approaches to peripheral vascular and aneurysmal disease.

    Current Research and Scholarly Interests Our research laboratory focuses on understanding the mechanics of the cardiovascular system, especially with respect to interactions between medical devices and the dynamic cardiovascular environment. We use medical imaging, 3D geometric modeling, and custom deformation quantification techniques to investigate disease processes and medical device performance. We are interested in the dynamics of the heart, aorta, and peripheral vasculature, and are always seeking ways to apply our research to current and emerging therapies. While our research pursuits seek to add to the fundamental understanding of cardiovascular biomechanics, all of our projects are directly related to improving medical device design, evaluation, regulation, and their use in clinical practice.

    Current Research and Scholarly Interests I am interested in thrombosis and the role of thrombin and its receptor in venous wall remodeling following venous thrombosis. I am also interested in vascular hemodynamics and the use of ultrasound, MRI and computational modeling in evaluating arterial flow in exercise conditions.

    Current Research and Scholarly Interests Dr. Lee is the Principal Investigator on several clinical trials examining therapeutic strategies for management of cerebrovascular disease, claudication and limb salvage, and complex aortic aneurysm disease.

    Dr. Lee’s clinical interests include:

    •Endovascular repair of abdominal/thoracic aneurysms
    Fenestrated and Branch Repair of the aorta
    •Carotid stenting
    •Endovascular lower extremity procedures
    •Thoracic outlet syndrome
    •Vascular disorders in high-performance athletes
