The clinical outcome of new technologies, and in particular the application of radiosurgery, for the treatment of brain tumors. The creation of new radiosurgical techniques for a wide array of brain and spine disorders.

Current Research and Scholarly Interests Our groups research focus is the acute treatment and prevention of cerebrovascular disorders. Our primary interest is the use of diffusion- and perfusion-weighted MRI to expand the treatment window for ischemic stroke. We are also conducting clinical studies of both neuroprotective and thrombolytic strategies for the treatment of acute stroke and investigating new antithrombotic strategies for stroke prevention.
Bio I have just completed my Neurosurgery residency and am spending one year in the laboratory of Dr. Ivan Soltesz to advance my research. I am looking to move my research in a more translational direction which will be relevant to Neurosurgery. My main project involves setting up organotypic human slice culture of hippocampal tissue resected during epilepsy surgery and testing whether an upregulation of multidrug transporters contributes to pharmacoresistance in these patients.
