The clinical outcome of new technologies, and in particular the application of radiosurgery, for the treatment of brain tumors. The creation of new radiosurgical techniques for a wide array of brain and spine disorders.

Current Research and Scholarly Interests Our groups research focus is the acute treatment and prevention of cerebrovascular disorders. Our primary interest is the use of diffusion- and perfusion-weighted MRI to expand the treatment window for ischemic stroke. We are also conducting clinical studies of both neuroprotective and thrombolytic strategies for the treatment of acute stroke and investigating new antithrombotic strategies for stroke prevention.
Geoff Appelboom, M.D. Ph.D.

Bio Geoff Appelboom, MD PhD is a clinical instructor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford. Dr Appelboom received is medical degree from ULB School of Medicine where he also completed his residency in Neurological Surgery. He spent 3 years of integrated research fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in New York studying genetic predictors of vascular fragility. Geoff has also completed a master in stereotactic surgery at La Sorbonne University in Paris.
He now focuses his interest on image-guided surgery of tumors of the brain and spine, vascular malformations and pain. His current research explores stereotactic disruption of the blood-brain barrier for drug delivery as well as radiosurgery for psychiatric disorders.
