The mission of the Stanford Center for Innovation in In-Vivo Imaging (SCI3) is the application and advancement of technologies for in-vivo biological assessment and imaging in animal models. The instrumentation will support the development of reagents and approaches that will reveal in-vivo changes at the molecular and cellular level such that a greater understanding can be gained in animal models.
In this manner the power of repeated measures can be applied to these models enriching the data sets and improving the statistics. This core will provide a test bed for evaluating human imaging reagents and strategies.
The flexibility and rapid analyses of the animal models will greatly accelerate the development of these molecular imaging strategies as well as novel therapeutic strategies for a variety of diseases. The Clark Building houses the SCI3 core resources and instrumentation.
The Small Animal Imaging Core Facility is partially supported by funds from the Stanford Digestive Disease Core, the Stanford Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Stanford ICMIC, and is operated by the Departments of Pediatrics (Neonatology) and Radiology.

Upcoming Hands-on Instrument Training
NO PHOTOS/VIDEOS ARE ALLOWED DURING IMAGING SYSTEM DEMONSTRATIONS
- GEHC Micro CT
May 12, 2008
Imaging Facility (Clark S040)
11:00am - 12:00pm
The GE scanner can acquire datasets at 49 and 97µm native resolution, with a scan time of 7-30 minutes, depending on protocol used (typically 8 minutes). The data needs to be manually corrected and reconstructed, but generates great images. It also has a limited axial filed of view (~4cm), so you need to scan multiple bed positions to image an
entire mouse or rat. If you or anyone in your lab is interested in attending, please contact Tim Doyle, Ph.D. - timbo@stanford.edu
- IVIS Training
Imaging Facility (Clark S040)
11:00 - 12:00pm
Basic IVIS training takes place the first Monday of the month at 11:00am in the imaging center (S040, Clark). If you or anyone in your lab is interested in attending, please contact Tim Doyle, Ph.D. - timbo@stanford.edu
