Associate Professor, Medicine - Oncology and Pathology
Stanford University
Dean Felsher, M.D., Ph.D., presently is a professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, department of Oncology and Pathology.
Dr. Felsher's laboratory at the Stanford University School of Medicine focuses on the investigation on how oncogenes initiate and sustain tumorigenesis. He has developed model systems whereby he can conditionally activate oncogenes in normal human and mouse cells in tissue culture or in specific tissues of transgenic mice. In particular using the tetracycline regulatory system, Dr. Felsher has generated a conditional over-expression of the MYC proto-oncogene regress with its inactivation. Thus, even though cancer is a multi-step process, the inactivation of one oncogene can be sufficient to induce tumor regression.
Dr. Felsher completed his fellowship at University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, his M.D. & Ph.D. at University of California, Los Angeles, Medicine/Molecular Biology and his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago, B.S. Chemistry.
