Dr. Amit Kulkarni leads the Nanoparticles platform project within the Nanotechnology Advanced Technology Program at GE Global Research. The Nanoparticles project is a multidisciplinary project consisting of scientists from disciplines such as Chemistry, Material Science, Engineering, and Molecular Biology. The project is focused on synthesis of nanoparticles, functionalization, and complete characterization to help build structure property functions for a variety of applications. Nanoparticle technologies developed at GE Global Research span a wide range of applications and impact a number of GE businesses including GE Healthcare, GE Advanced Materials, GE Security, and others. Dr.Kulkarni brings to the Nanotechnology program his expertise from his Ph.D. research in the area of colloid physics and engineering as applicable to protein crystallization. Dr. Kulkarni holds 10 publications in refereed journals and 4 patents (pending). He is an active member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Institute of Physics and The American Crystallographic Association.
