Hypothesis Testing: An Introduction

In this lesson, we are going to discuss how a Hypothesis Test can be performed to either prove or disprove a claim about a Mean. Often when a claim concerning a population is made, statisticians are asked to submit the claim to a Hypothesis Test in order to prove whether it is factual or even significant. A Hypothesis  is an assertion that something is true.

Hypothesis Tests are also called Tests of Significance.  Depending upon our testing parameters, we can by means of Hypothesis Testing determine if claims concerning a deviance from the accepted mean are significant changes.
