Uniform Change

What are the effects of Uniform Change on both the Mean and the Variance?  Let's experiment with our simple Sphere Population.  Suppose we added a fixed amount to the values which comprise our distribution.  Let's add 5 to the members of our population sample.  The spheres would then appear as follows:

What is the new Mean Value?

We find that the Mean value which was once 7.2 inches has increased by five to 12.2!  You can see that by adding a constant to the value of the individuals of a population, you increase its Mean value by that constant.

Does this also occur in relation to the Variance?
