A Graphical Approach

If we were to graph on the x,y,z, axis all possible values of p1, p2, and the RSS of an equation, we would get a bowl-shaped area of space. As the graph shows, the RSS is minimized at the lowest point of the bowl. How do we approach this value?

We must solve for a minmized RSS through the process of trial and error, iterating values of p1 and p2 until we discover the lowest possible RSS value.
